HAMPTON ROADS, Va. — On Wednesday, June 7, the Norfolk Police Department, the Norfolk Sheriff's Office, the Virginia Beach Police Department and other Hampton Roads-based agencies teamed up to run for a special cause: the Special Olympics. The runners participated in the annual Torch Run in support for the Special Olympics. According to Special Olympics Virginia , law enforcement agencies and corrections departments in the Commonwealth come together to participate in the run and raise money. Each year, the Torch Run raises over a million dollars for the Special Olympics, according to the organization.
